Finding your TDEE & Macros

Figuring out how many macros to eat & your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE), is oftentimes the very first step when creating an effective weight loss plan, and calorie counting goal. You can google TDEE calculators and get a ton of options, but it’s hard to know which to trust, and where to start.

So I’m here to help.

I’ve used random TDEE calculators and have no qualms about them, but I loved my experience using This calculator. Precision nutrition is a reputable brand, they have this macro calculator, as well as one specifically for weight loss. I love the accuracy, the way it breaks down my macros by percentages, and provides a visual cue for tracking food (which is helpful if you’re someone who isn’t interested in counting calories).

Of course any decent calorie counting app will also provide you with a guide on what to eat, and assist you with creating a caloric deficit. I’m currently playing with Macrofactor and so far, I’m very impressed with how informative and intuitive it is. I’m newer to using the app for tracking my calories, so I’m not screaming it off the rooftops just yet, but I am loving the calorie breakdown it’s given me so far! I hope either of these two options are of great benefit to you, and that you find them helpful on your own journey.
